I am a bass trombone soloist and have performed at colleges and universities throughout the US. My goal in solo performance is to make the performance enjoyable for traditional audiences and to bring new audiences to the bass trombone and to instrumental music. I use diverse styles of music to the bass trombone including jazz, hip-hop, and rock. I actively freelance, sub with the Charlotte and North Carolina Symphonies, and am Professor of Trombone at Gardner-Webb University. I am engaged to be married this summer to Maegan and we will live in Kannapolis. I came to Epworth in the spring of 2007 as the Director of the Chancel Choir and am excited about seeing it grow and develop.

I am from the GREAT state of Ohio, born in Marion, Ohio. During high school I was the accompanist for all choirs, ensembles and the orchestra. I also had my own piano studio on a music store for 4 years during my high school days. I received two 4 year scholarships, one to St. Louis Institute of Music and also Oberlin Conservatory of Music where I attended for 1 year. I felt God was leading me into nursing rather than music so I attended Lima Memorial School of Nursing in Ohio and nursed a year until our first child was born. Later I nursed part time and began my own piano studio in Concord. I met my husband Ike while at Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio and were married soon after. We have 4 children and 10 grandchildren and I love them all. Presently I am still organist at Epworth but soon will retire but will work with the handbells as long as my health allows.
