The Flock Pre-School Staff

2009 - 2010

1-Year-Old Classroom

Mrs. Susan Trevathan

Mrs. Jill Curione

The 2009/2010 school year saw the opening of our first on-year-old classroom.  We are excited that it has been a wonderful year and look forward to more opportunities to serve one-year-olds.  Mrs. Susan and Mrs. Jill are perfect teachers for our one-year-old room. Both caring and loving individuals, they provide an atmosphere for the children that is safe, warm, and welcoming.  In the one-year-old room, they have lots of fun playing and learning.  They enjoy bible-time, circle time, story time, arts and crafts, outside play, and, of course, diaper changing time!!!

2-Year-Old Classroom

Mrs. Sandra Starr

Mrs. Sandra has seven years of experience working with one and two year olds, she brings so much to our very well-rounded and professional team.  Mrs. Sandra loves two-year-olds and really understands how to meet their needs.  She is excellent at differentiating instruction, as well as at managing a classroom of small children.  Finally, she has a very special talent for communicating and working with two-year-olds which makes her perfect for being a lead teacher.

3-Year-Old Classroom

Mrs. Carrie Taylor

Mrs. Carrie has been with The Flock preschool for many years.  While at The Flock, she has taught both two-year-olds and three year olds.  Among Mrs. Carrie's strengths are her creativity, as well as her knowledge of the curriculum and organization.  There is no telling what you might see going on in her classroom as she moves things around and changes centers on a continual basis to meet the needs of her students and to address the various themes they are studying.  Mrs. Carrie is also gifted in music and does a wonderful job of including all kinds of music and movement within her classroom.

4-Year-Old Classrooms

Mrs. Jennifer King

Mrs. Jenny is a veteran working with our 4-year-olds.  Mrs. Jenny is absolutely one of the most creative individuals in the world and this definitely comes out in her classroom and the various projects that she works on with her children.  No matter what the theme may be or the time of year, Mrs. Jenny comes up with some of the best crafts and activities for children to learn through experience and hands-on projects.  Mrs. Jenny also incorporates centers in her classroom and works daily to ensure that the activities and curriculum that are being taught meet the needs of the children and are meaningful.  She works with our five-day-four year olds.

Mrs. Suzanne Carney

Mrs. Suzanne has been with The Flock for three years.  Before coming to The Flock, she also had experience in a previous preschool working with 3-year-olds. Mrs. Suzanne's strengths include curriculum and differentiation of instruction.  Through a variety of activities, Mrs. Suzanne is very gifted at making sure each and every child learns at his or her own pace and level.  In addition, Mrs. Suzanne is also very creative and provides a variety of experiences for children to learn and experience the various themes they are studying.  Finally, Mrs. Suzanne is also very gifted in the area of phonemic awareness and how to provide meaninful activities for children to grow in their pre-literacy skills.  Mrs. Suzanne is the four year old teacher for our Monday, Wednesday, Friday Program.

Although each of these teachers has a classroom that they call their own, we all work together as a team to create an atmosphere that is the very best possible for children.  Each teacher has her own special strengths.  However, we work together and use our strengths to create a curriculum and daily activities that meet the needs of all the children who enter our doors.  We pride ourselves on the beleif that each child is a special gift from God.  As such, no matter what classroom a child may enter, he/she will have his/her needs met, and they will soar to their highest possible level.

Sometimes the staff can be just a little crazy!
